Windows Vista Given to Beta Testers!

If you haven't already heard - Microsoft are giving copies of Windows Vista to Beta Testers for FREE. This is a completely unexpected move on Microsofts part. We (yes I’m a Beta Tester) weren’t really expecting anything, the majority of us were hoping for a 180 day trial of Windows Vista. But for Microsoft to give us Windows Vista for free was just totally unexpected.

We had the choice of Business or Ultimate edition (if unfamiliar with the different Vista editions, read this). No prizes for guessing which edition I chose and which edition my fellow beta participants chose.

Thank you Microsoft, you’ve made me very happy. Plus you’ve saved me £369.99 – which is never a bad thing.

Well it's official, Windows Vista has finally been released to manufacturing. This has been a long time coming. From the first build of Longhorn to leak, to now, 5 years later. What you have seen here folks is a great OS develop and mature in front of your very own eyes. I would like to congratulate not just the whole of the Vista team, but all of Microsoft - and I wish you great success.

FYI, the build is 6000.16386 - to see some screenshots head over here.

Microsoft Office 2007 RTM!

If you haven't heard already, Microsoft Office 2007 has RTM (Released to Manufacturing). You can read the full press release here.

If you don't already know Office 2007 has been completed over hauled UI wise, and while change can be frightening - I assure you. This is for the best. It's a steep learning curve, but once you get used to it. You'll never go back to Office 2003.

And for those of you with a MSDN subscription, you can expect Office 2007 soon.
